Hospitable Discords

Hospitable Discords is a artistic and curatorial platform that presents models of pedagogy that move beyond extended curatorial taxonomy, towards integrated artistic and programming practices that aim to influence the development of local and global public spheres. The form of sanctions can go beyond economic and political, to western educational institutions resistance to sanction the physical participation of educationalist/artist/researchers to undertake residencies in areas of conflict. In response, Samantha Jones, through her ‘Hospitable Discords’ collaborated with AllArtNow in Damascus Syria to to curate and deliver alternative platforms for artistic pedagogy through the negotiation of virtual and temporary counter-public spheres. Through the platform of ‘Hospitable Discords’ Samantha hosted a critically timed discourse between Syrian and Greek artists and curators within the multi-nodal counter-public sphere of three temporary art schools; AllArtNow ‘Studio 1′ Damascus, Liverpool School of Art and Design’s ‘Mobile Art School Athens’ and Athens Biennial ‘Public Art School’. Hopsitable Discords invited Yota Ioannidou to lead this discourse at the ‘Mobile Art School Athens’ in the presentation and analyis of artistic strategies and process that are evolving out of current political climates in Syria and Greece
